Seven Reasons Why “Israel is Unique Among the Nations”

Understanding the roots of the current war situation in Israel and Gaza is vitally important for everyone who sincerely seeks PEACE and eschews pain, suffering, and the loss of life.

The current unrest between Jews and Palestinians is a repeat of millennia of hatred by the enemies of true peace in the region.

For example, after the 1967 Six-Day War the Arab League met in Khartoum Sudan, and declared the “Three No’s” as their official position. No Recognition of Israel, No Negotiation with Israel, and No Peace with Israel.

Sadly. since then, this position has scuttled every attempt at peace by Israel with Fatah (PLO), Hamas and Hezbollah.

As proven by the recent Abraham Accords, with UAE, Bahrain and Sudan, plus other Arab countries, it is possible to establish peace between Arabs and Jews. But not with the Palestinians! Why?

The Bible records that, at least seven times, Israel is unique among the nations promising to bring PEACE to all nations. How?

Israel is the only nation promised to bring blessings to all the nations and their families when the Lord instructed Abram.

“I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed [or: by you, all the families of the earth shall bless themselves].”  Genesis 12:2,3

Please read and consider this promise and tomorrow I will present to you point 2 in this series of 7 Biblical reasons why PEACE is indeed possible in the Middle East. Please remember that it is a choice!

For millennia, Israel has been repeatedly attacked and has had to continually fight for its life and the lives of its people.

In Psalm 83:2-4 the Bible says,

2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;

And those who hate You have lifted up their head.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,

And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.

4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,

That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

Looking back, this terror strategy has never worked. All of Israel’s historic enemies are no more, while the Jewish people are back home in their ancient homeland, prospering and making a positive differnce for people all around the world through their discoveries, especially in the field of health care. Meanwhile, they are attacked by Hamas and global anti-Semitic attacks are reaching a new modern-day high.  Why?

Israel Is the only nation promised National Redemption – 2 Samuel 7:23 – 24

No other country has this promise associated with it!

“And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?  You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.”

Of course, this truth brings jealousy, hatred and animosity from many nations and their peoples who cannot accept this promise. Today, hatred of Jews and Israel is sweeping the globe like a pandemic infection in alarming ways. Clearly it is an attempt to “cut them off from being a nation” as we read in yesterday’s post.

Nevertheless, Israel and the Jewish people will remain because they have a God-given responsibility to share the Universal Principles of Blessings to every nation that will accept them. Sadly, through history, the Stalins, the Hitlers, the Inquisitors, the Romans, the Hamans, and the Amelekites among many other anti-Semites, failed to grasp this truth, to their demise.

The confirmation of this calling to the Jew is found many times in the Bible, see the Book of Isaiah 42:6

“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
    I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
    to be a covenant for the people (nations)
    and a light for the Gentiles,

Israel is the only nation that for millennia has had to struggle over maintaining Jerusalem as her capital city!

The Bible forecasts this difficulty concerning Jerusalem when in Zechariah 12:3 it says.

“It will come about on that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will injure themselves severely. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.”   New American Standard Bible

Jerusalem, also called the “City of Peace,” has been fought over in countless wars for repeated generations bringing injury, death and destruction to all those who sought to move it out of the hands of the Jewish people.
But Jesus said that there would come a day when Jerusalem will come back into the hands of the Jewish people signaling the end of the “Times of the Gentiles” thus beginning the “end of days.”

“…Jerusalem will be walked over by the people who are not Jews until their time is finished.” Luke 21:24b

This actually happened during the 1967 Six-Day War when Jerusalem was returned to Jewish authority. It was the first time in nearly 2000 years that Jerusalem became the “indivisible, eternal capital” of the Jewish people. It remains that today in spite of the recent rocket attacks from Gaza.

Nevertheless, the battle still rages over Jerusalem in the minds of most politicians and their adherents the world over. Yet in a bold move, and against State Department sentiments, and fifty years after the Six-Day War, former President Donald Trump acknowledged Jerusalem to be Israel’s capital on December 7, 2017. Was this a Jubilee year for Jerusalem?

Furthermore, everyone in the world is enjoined by the scripture that promises blessings and prosperity by joining in prayer for her peace.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you – the holy city.”    Amplified Bible

  Israel is the only nation and people group, that for millennia, has had to struggle against slander, prejudice, and evil speaking against them.

Among the many lies, one of the most prevalent is concerning finances. It has been repeated over and over by anti-Semites “that the Jews control all the money of the world.” That is simply not true!

The Bible does promise, however, that the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would be blessed financially. But this was for a very specific reason.  In Deuteronomy 8:18 it says, “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers as it is this day.”

“Generally the word “power ” means capacity or ability whether physical, spiritual or mental.  It is clear that the source of this ability is from God in order to obtain wealth, prosperity and witty inventions. Moses strictly warns Israel not to conclude that this capacity for success is an innate talent but to humbly acknowledge that it is a God-given ability.

Wealth is more than money, possessions, and inventions. We must always see that the blessings we have received are to be shared with others. God’s covenanted prosperity is a means to an end, never an end in itself.

Israel has been blessed by discovering many health care innovations and often shares them with her enemies. A case in point is that during the last barrage of rockets from Gaza, the seventeen-year-old niece of  Hamas leader Haniyeh lay in an Israeli hospital for one month receiving life-saving bone marrow transplant treatment. Jerusalem Post, May 28, 2021

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse (attack) you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,” Matthew 5:44  NKJV

Israel has always had the responsibility to defend its innocent civilians and always does its best to avoid civilian casualties even in enemy territory.

 “When a man’s ways please the Lord,He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”  Proverbs 16:7  ESV

Israel is the only nation and people group, that promises to bring the “Light of God” to all nations.

People everywhere in the world for generations, have been searching for “the fountain of life.” Where can one go to find the secret of eternal life. Only in Israel. How? The Hebrew Bible has promised every man and every woman on earth the source of this promise of “everlasting life and forever youth.”

For with You is the fountain of life, the fountain of life-giving water; In Your light we see light.Psalm 36:9  Amplified Bible

From time immemorial humans have searched for “the fountain of life” a source of mystical water that when imbibed gives one eternal youth and everlasting life. This concept has been recorded in various mythological sources including Greek and Roman fables. The closest place representing this myth was discovered in America in St Augustine Florida.  It has been touted as the likely 1513 Florida landing site of Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, although no evidence has been found to substantiate this claim. This is just another fantasy.

Thank God, however, the Bible does record the existence of such a spiritual source in Psalm 36:8-9

“They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.”

Perhaps the most important task given to Israel has been to introduce to the world the concept of, and the person of, the Messiah, Jesus. He then promises to give to anyone who believes, the source of eternal life.

“The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’?'” John 7:38, NASB:

In John 4:14. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman he met at the well,“…but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” {and light)

*David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel, was once asked, “What is your favourite Scripture verse?” He responded, “Well actually I have two, Isaiah 42:6 and 1 Corinthians 13, (the whole chapter),

“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and I will keep you;

I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations.”    Isaiah 42:6

Israel is the only nation and people group, that promises to bring PEACE to all people and all nations.

Since the beginning of recorded history mankind has been on a quest for peace. For generations, people everywhere in the world have been searching for true and lasting PEACE. I am speaking of PEACE between people groups, nations, cultures, and societies. The key here is that such PEACE must be based on PEACE between man and His God. Israel and the Jewish people have been given the privilege and the responsibility of conveying this blessing to the world in the form of a person called the Messiah. This reality was promised over five hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ or Yeshua ha Mashiach in Hebrew.

 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14   NKJV

“The best news is that this PEACE is everlasting. The promise in Isaiah 9:6,7b is that this “divine government of PEACE is ever increasing and will have no end. For unto us a Child is born. Unto us, a Son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulder.And His name will be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of PEACE.Of the increase of His government and PEACE will be no end…”  Isaiah 9:6,7b  NKJV

To be a partaker of this PEACE and to become a conveyor of this PEACE in society simply open up your heart andbe “born again” of the Holy Spirit.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16  NKJV

This decision is a personal one. It is up to you. It is your choice. But it really does start a process of PEACE for you – forever.

“The Messiah brought us together through his death on the cross. The Cross got us to embrace, and that was the end of the hostility. Messiah came and preached PEACE to you outsiders (formerly aliens to the commonwealth of Israel) and PEACE to us insiders. He treated us as equals, and so made us equals. Through Him, we both share the same Spirit and have equal access to the PEACE of our Heavenly Father.”    Ephesians 2:16-18 MSG
