An Answer to Prayer…

Almost one month ago we asked for prayer for our dear friend Irene, who had been diagnosed with an aneurysm in her left eye.

Needless to say, these past weeks have been filled with prayer (and worry!)

Several days ago, Irene traveled to Jerusalem, hopeful that the doctors would be able to do a laser procedure. When she arrived, the news was better than all had hoped for!

The aneurysm appears to have not only stopped growing, but it has in fact regressed! This morning, Irene was able returned home without having any invasive procedures done!

Although the danger is not over, for all of us, this is a miraculous answer to prayer. We ask you to please keep Irene in your prayers, so that she will see a complete healing!

Urgent Prayer Request!

A longtime, close friend of ours in Israel is in urgent need of prayer.
Irene has been diagnosed with an aneurysm in her left eye and her doctors fear she will lose her eyesight.
Doctors are unable to operate at this time, but they are hopeful that a new course of medications will be without side effects, and subsequently allow them to perform the necessary surgery to repair the aneurysm.
The operation is very delicate and risky. Our dear friend is very concerned, as are we all.

Irene believes strongly in the power of prayer. Earlier today as we spoke with her, she remarked:
“Tell the world~I need all the Prayers I can get!”

Please, Pray for Irene…

We are asking for prayers to insure that the current treatment will be effective, and that the doctors will soon be able to perform the vital surgery to save her vision.

Pastor Umar Mulinde: A Man with The Heart of a Lion

When members of the world’s Christian community gathered in Jerusalem for the 4th Jerusalem Assembly, Jay, Meridel and David arranged to bring Pastor Mulinde to Jerusalem to meet with some of the leaders.

The story of Pastor Umar Mulinde and his journey from preaching Islam to Christianity is one that everyone must pay attention to. As a former Muslim he speaks honestly about Islam and the danger that it represents. Pastor Mulinde emphasizes that he does not hate Muslims. He tells us “we don’t fight Muslims”, rather, the fight is with the “Spirit of Islam”.

We had posted some excerpts from this meeting (See Links at End of Post), but to our dismay the main portion of the films were lost. With prayer and perseverance, David was able to recover the lost footage. We are pleased to be able to post the two missing segments (Below) where Pastor Mulinde speaks honestly, from his heart, about his struggle against continuous attacks and persecution. His complete faith in the Lord has sustained him, and each time we speak with him this faith seems to have grown stronger. This soft-spoken young man remains determined to speak out and will never allow the spirit of evil to silence him.
1st Meeting~Evelyn, David, Jay, Meridel & Umar

In Part 2 (below) Pastor Mulinde reaffirms his faith and the fact that persecution will never silence him. His simply spoken words are an uplifting example for us all:

“One thing I know is that this attack cannot reduce my self-esteem, because I was attacked physically, but spiritually I am alive. The Umar Mulinde in me is alive and cannot be burned with acid. That’s why I have some pain and wounds, but I can talk boldly because the real person inside me is healthy and I thank God for that!”

All of us who have had the privilege of meeting Pastor Umar and Evelyn Mulinde have been deeply touched. They have no hate, no wish for revenge~just a steadfast belief and acceptance that the Lord is in control. Many people speak from podiums and pulpits, but this young pastor speaks from his heart with a message that cannot be denied or passed over. Words cannot portray the spirit that surrounds this young family, but all who encounter this man will come away deeply affected by the fire in his heart that burns for the Lord. We look forward to the day when he will return in joy and triumph to his church in Uganda and the thousands who are waiting to great him and we pray that his message will be heard around the world.
Please continue to pray for Pastor Umar Mulinde, his wife Evelyn and their children. Pray that as he undergoes his final treatments, the Lord will ease the pain and bring comfort to this gentle man with the Heart of a Lion…

Gush Katif~Secure Them in Your Heart…

On Wednesday, 22 February 2012, in Brooklyn New York a fundraiser was held for the nearly ten thousand people evicted from Gush Katif.
The families lost their homes, jobs, schools, synagogues, community~even the dead were dug up and moved.
Now, Hamas uses former synagogues as terror training camps, and fields that once grew crops are used to fire rockets into Israel. Giving up land for peace Never works! It only makes the enemy bolder as time has proven.
There were many speakers at the dinner, but here, from Arutz 7 is part of Glenn Beck’s speech.

Zvi Givati~A Friend IN Deed

Some time ago, we filmed the story of Retired Israeli Brigadier General Zvi Givati. He has devoted his life to helping people and bringing them together. Here, in five parts is that story…Enjoy!

Canadian PM: I Will Defend Israel “Whatever the Cost”

Although Israel is just a tiny strip of land (only 65% of the size of Vancouver Island!) it seems that the world is constantly  pre-occupied with everything that happens here!

Indeed, there are days when Israelis feel they are “under the microscope of criticism”. The feeling that the entire world is against us, no matter what we do–or don’t do–weighs heavily on us all.

There are many in the public eye who make a “trip to Israel” (whether it’s for a “personal cause” or a campaign for office), in a bid for publicity and air time. Good or bad, Israel always manages to make the headlines.

In a society where elections can be won or lost on a single statement, it is not easy to be a politician who (openly) stands with Israel. It is not easy to swim against the current.

In November 2010 the Prime Minister of Canada did just that when he made this speech.  He spoke simply, honestly and with integrity. It  never hurts to hear it again…Thanks Canada!

A New Community on the Mount of Olives (Har HaZeitim)

View from Har HaZeitim (Mount of Olives)
We received an email from a group called United With Israel. On 31 January, 2011, a cornerstone laying ceremony was held for four new apartment buildings, each three stories high. In attendance at the ceremony were Knesset members, Jerusalem city councilmen, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and actor Jon Voight
This new community on the Mount of Olives is being developed by Beit Orot. In addition to its core educational and reclamation objectives, Beit Orot aims social activities to helping various sectors of Israeli society. The community will house the Irving Moskowitz Yeshiva & Campus (a hesder yeshiva) that is the nucleus of this new neighborhood located on the strategically crucial northern ridge of Har HaZeitim. There are an estimated 150,000 graves on the Mount, including tombs traditionally associated with Zechariah and Avshalom. On the upper slope, the traditional Tomb of the Prophets Haggai, Zechariah and Malachiā€Ž is situated. At the foot of the Mount of Olives lies the Garden of Gethsemane.
In this clip provided by Arutz 7,  Mike Huckabee speaks at the cornerstone ceremony…
